I have lived with multiple complex menstrual-health conditions since my mid-20s (I'm almost 50 now) and learned a thing or two about living with:
life and relationship disrupting symptoms,
being frustrated by struggling to get clear, complete, and/or consistent information, and
feeling pressured when being asked to make big medical decisions that don’t feel right.
I believe people should be able to understand health information well enough to participate meaningfully in their care, and for women with chronic menstrual health issues, that can be difficult. These are complex conditions operating in our complex female bodies.
That is why beyondURdiagnosis aims to make complex information understandable and help people connect it to their own questions, priorities, and healthcare conversations.

Many of us feel like once we have our diagnosis, we should know what to do next and can become exasperated when it leads to more confusion. We think the new label should answer our questions, but we still need to understand recommendations, clarify priorities, and prepare for further decisions.
Then we can get stuck endlessly researching with the hope that more information will find the one answer that will make everything clear. It can feel like we have to understand the medical details as well as our clinicians to confidently participate in our healthcare decision making.
At beyondURdiagnosis we feel rather than constantly searching for answers, we first need to go through a process of identifying what we understand, what remains unresolved, and which questions would help us move forward.
In our experience, we absolutely can participate meaningfully in our care by describing our experience, explaining our priorities, and asking for clarification without needing to become a clinician.
That’s where we can help. You may not need more answers, but you won’t know until you first understand what questions you still have.
We won’t give you medical advice, but we will distill the scientific evidence available and offer frameworks for you to organise what you understand, what you need to still investigate, and how you can decide on the right care for you given your priorities.
We do this through clear, evidence-informed articles and videos to help you prepare for your next healthcare conversation.
Understanding individual facts, diagnoses, and/or recommendations does not necessarily give us a coherent understanding of our situation.
Maybe you have research fatigue and are still confused like I was for many years. Maybe you are just starting to research, but the enormity of the rabbit holes you can go down is overwhelming.
It is common to understand an explanation of a symptom, diagnosis, or treatment option, but struggle to use or apply that knowledge when facing an appointment, recommendation, or decision.
How does that piece of information fit into the bigger picture of what is going on in our bodies? How will this impact our lives and how we want to live?
The getURdiagnosis Course is designed to:
give you enough information about your condition and your body’s systems to understand what you still need to investigate,
let you know which avenues are available for you to investigate what is relevant to you further - including their scientific voracity, and
assess your personal situation and decide what you need to ask, clarify, or do next with greater confidence with your chosen qualified clinicians.
The getURdiagnosis Course is a structured process to take you from confusion to informed, confident action.

Knowing more does not automatically make change manageable or sustainable in everyday life. In an ideal world, we would take the information we learn on the changes we need to make to support our health and JUST DO IT!
Maybe it is consistently taking a new medication, changing up our diet or exercise, cutting back or giving up drinking, lowering the stress we have in our lives, or getting more sleep. Perfect, we understand why it will help, then just do it, right? Easy! IF… ONLY…!
Changing habits is hard. Even knowing the science behind why we should change a particular habit (although it helps) AND knowing it will be hard does not make it easier.
Knowing what you want to change is only the beginning. rebuildURbody is designed to provide a place to reflect on what is working, recognise barriers, make manageable adjustments, and practise changes over time with women who get it.
The evidence is in, and support, accountability, motivation, and reflection help us be more successful in creating lasting change.
rebuildURbody does this through providing:
a safe space to share, learn, and sanity check your medical experiences with women who get it,
a growing library of evidence-informed resources, discussions and opportunities to learn alongside other women navigating chronic menstrual health conditions, and
regular live and Q&A sessions on everything from treatments to lifestyle that may affect women with menstrual conditions.
The rebuildURbody Private Online Community was created because sustainable change requires a supportive environment with people who get it.
I spent years completely incapacitated for 3 - 6 days per cycle, would knock myself out on obscenely strong painkillers, and lie in bed taking little to no food. → Now I get out of bed and get things done during my periods without synthetic hormones or pain killers, and I didn’t have the hysterectomy doctors said I must have for years if I wanted to get to where I am today. (Please note, I am not saying synthetic hormones, pain killers, and hysterectomies are to be avoided, and I honestly believe they are the right path for many people. This is just a comment about where I am at right now.)
I don’t think the treatments that worked for me, or the decisions I made will be right for you. We all have different bodies, different priorities, and are operating in different environments.
But I do think the PROCESS I went through to get that deep understanding of how these conditions interact with the rest of the body, and then doggedly investigating what was happening underneath those diagnoses for ME, will completely change the way you understand what is going on, navigate the system, and the decisions you make.
That is what inspired me to create beyondURdiagnosis: to help women with chronic menstrual conditions understand the science behind their diagnosis and symptoms, explore what may be worth investigating, and prepare for more confident healthcare decisions with qualified clinicians.

Health information deserves more than confident opinions.
We aim to make the difference between established evidence, emerging research, lived experience, and uncertainty visible. All articles include sources, dates, and are reviewed and updated as the evidence changes.
This platform provides education, health-literacy tools, and appointment-preparation support. It does not provide individual diagnosis, or treatment plans, and is not a substitute for qualified clinical care.
We are also not perfect, so if you spot a mistake or see something that needs updating, there is a form at the bottom of each article where you can let us know. We do need citations to show what we missed or what has changed, so we can make sure we are sharing the latest, evidence driven information.
